I have seen this book around for a few months now and finally picked it up from one of my local book stores. Forewarning this book is packed with tragedy. The storyline follows the view points of a the two youngest kids of a Mi’kmaq family living in the Novia Scotia area. The family travels to Maine every year to pick blueberries. While working in the fields the youngest of the family goes missing. The story weaves from present day to the past following the lives of the youngest in the family and her closest brother. The story really shows the impacts of the loss of family can do to individuals. There is a lot of resistance in this book in many forms so I paired it with a Resist Tumbler and a gin and tonic to enjoy the lightness that you can also find amongst the tragedy.
