Another best friend recommendation this is definitely a HORROR book so if that’s not your jam I’d avoid it. BUT if you are on the edge of interest in horror I’d check this one out because the violent acts are the least bit of what is terrifying in the book. The religion is what really got me. Tingle does an incredible job of mixing together “in your face” allegories of what our queer community experiences daily and more metaphysical ideas. The use of demons in this book is genius. His main character is amazing! You will be disgusted but you will also giggle especially if you have any kind of religious background and can pick up on all the hidden means he sprinkles throughout the book. I paired this book with the Desert Coyote Skull mug that I collaborated on with Courtney of Lost Canyon Press because the mugs are a lovely balance between light and dark, like the book. Perhaps top it off with a rootbeer because Rose (the main character) would be aghast if you were drinking a real beer.
