About two years ago I listened to Holly by Steven King and became enamored with Holly, the main character. She is a neurodivergent detective and it turns out she actually made a first appearance in Mr Mercedes written in 2014! So I went back to the beginning of her story with this book. It’s a pretty classic gruesome King serial killer thriller book. King does an incredible job capturing the perverted white man’s mindset and offsets it with some really endearing characters set out to find the bad guy. If horror and thriller aren’t your cup of tea don’t open this one but if you’re into detective work, a well written plot and fabulous character development than this is a great book to check out. I’d pair it with a monoprint mountain tumbler topped off with a glass of white wine.
