Ok I listened to this book because I kept hearing about it on NPR and it was receiving rave reviews. If you check it out PLEASE let me know what you think because honestly I thought it was pretty awful. The writing, character development, story arc and allegories in the book, I will admit, are very well done. What I struggled with was the actual plot of the book. To me it left me wondering if everyone is truly that unsatisfied with their lives to enjoy the book that much? Which in turn just made me sad. Anyways, basic plot is a woman is experiencing perimenopause and is questioning her marriage so she plans a road trip ends up 20 miles out of town and spends 10K to refurbish a hotel room while she courts the interior decorators husband who is significantly younger. So what to pair with a disappointing book…. How about a bright floral full bloom filled with lemonade to brighten the whole experience.
