What an interesting book. I didn’t love it but that doesn’t mean I didn’t like it. The book was written in the 80s and is about a family whose town is being evacuated due to air born contamination. But that’s hardly the plot. The book is really about how too much information can seriously alter a person. “Because we’re suffering from brain fade.” This feels incredibly poignant that DeLillo is writing warns about “brain fade” in the 80s, just think about how much more information each of takes in in a day in 2025! The book can feel disjointed so if you don;t enjoy that writing it’s not for you. If you’re up for an adventure and some very thought provoking allegories than definitely read White Noise. You could pair it with a vintage floral tumbler and an old fashion to really set the scene.
