Ok fare warning this is a horror novel. Stephen Graham Jones specializes in horror and I will admit some of his books are too much for me but this one I quite liked. It’s a novella so quite short and is the story of a young boy whose father passed away. The boy is living in a track home and is convinced he saw the ghost of his father one night and becomes obsessed with trying to bring his dad back into his life. It’s a dark story about how we deal, or don’t, with grief. The ending definitely left me thinking which is always a sign of a good book for me. I would pair this dark book with a dark Moody Mountain Tumbler and top if off with the cocktail called Lick the Desert because I borrowed it from my cocktail Queen friend who made me this amazing cocktail recently.
