Oofta for such a small book this one took me a while to get through. I really loved Klara and the Sun from Ishiguro so I knew that getting to the end would be worth the work but I did find the writing just that, work. The main character is reminiscing on her past growing up in a boarding school of sorts. I love how Ishiguro never explicitly tells you what’s happening but what I struggled with was the rambling narrative. I struggle with that kind of story telling but the basis of what the novel is about is so fascinating to think about. I’d pair this with a Desert Tumbler topped off with Gin and Tonic.
