PERFUME
MUG: Floral Tumbler
BOOK: Perfume by Patrick Suskind
DRINK: White Wine
Ok this book is wild and dark. It is set in Paris in the 1700s. The main character has an incredibly heightened sense of smell but yet, he himself, has no human scent. His powerful sense of smell leads him to a perfumery where he learns the process of capturing scents. As he learns about perfuming he finds the most perfect scent in the world, young virgin women on the cusp of becoming women, and makes it his goal to capture the scent. You will never look at perfumes the same after this book. The descriptors are mostly based about smell instead of sight which is fascinating. There are some horribly gruesome scenes in this book that I am told have become a cult classic in the film version of this book. Perhaps pair this intense book with some lightness like a floral tumbler topped off with white whine.
