Whoa what a powerful book. I cried at the end. Marra has set this book in war torn Chechnya. A young physcian has traveled home at the news that war is over, a young girl is left alone after her father is abducted by Russian forces, a neighbor doing what he can to protect the young girl, an old gentlemen who has spent his life writing the history of Chechyna, and a sister left to fend for herself through the war. These are the storylines that are expertly and emotionally woven together in this beautiful book. As the picture shows I quite literally paired this book with a Beaded Dreams Tumbler and a cortado.
