Definitely need a darker mug and strong black coffee to pair with this book. The Vegetarian is on the New York Times top 100 books of the century list. It caught my eye because of the name and description. Fair warning this book is categorized as horror. The book is set in South Korea and was originally written in Korean. The storyline is about a woman who has decided to stop eating meat because of some fucked up dreams and how it feels wrong in her body. The “meat” of the book really addresses the bodily autonomy of women or the lack thereof in family structures and society. It’s a dark read that will probably leave you a little squeamish at the end. It’s short and brutal. This is another one that if you dare pick up I would love to hear your thoughts.
