I’ve been digging deep into books that help my not wallow too much in my injury and Cole’s series was exactly what I needed but I will give a forewarning the love story is INFURIATING! But the world building is great and there are interesting twists and turns in the story that kept me going from book to book to book and I’m sure I’ll listen to the fourth as soon as it’s out. The basic plot is that there are descended gods that have godly powers and they were charged with running the world. But they control humans with an iron fist and treat them as lesser. A young mortal woman who has never truly fit in with her community begins to develop powers. The storyline follows her discoveries and how the importance of knowing others that are different from you can shift your opinions. There’s something bright about this book so I’d pair the book with an aperol spritz in a bright mono print mountain mug.
